There’s something truly magical about watching a little one dive into their first birthday cake—especially when it’s styled with a touch of storybook wonder. For this sweet boy’s cake smash session, we took inspiration from a childhood classic: Where the Wild Things Are. From the moment his crown went on and his tiny “king of all wild things” outfit was buttoned up, we knew it was going to be a session to remember.
I created a custom balloon arch in rich greens, warm tans, and hints of gold to bring the forest-like feel of the book to life. The colors gave just the right touch of wild adventure without overwhelming the space—perfect for this little explorer’s big moment. We paired it with neutral props and a simple smash cake that didn’t steal the spotlight from our adorable Max look-alike.
He wasted no time diving into his cake with joyful curiosity, and every messy, frosting-covered moment was picture-perfect. After the smash, we wrapped up the session with a warm bubble bath—because even wild things need to get cleaned up! He splashed, giggled, and gave us even more adorable moments to capture.
